The only time I’ve spoke with one of these (because who answers a phone anymore), was about a decade ago. Told me my insurance was expiring on my car. I started to grab my card to read the numbers and renew. This stuff wasn’t widespread and well known at the time.
I had a moment of clarity and asked, “what kind of car do I have?” Line went dead. I got pretty lucky as this was long before the internet had a bajillion reports of exactly this.

Folks, let’s not rush to conclusions… Maybe this person was blinded by money and couldn’t see the evil because it was like staring into the sun. Maybe they were paid partly in stocks that only vested just now and they couldn’t find their moral compass because of greed. It might be that they were able to land a new job that pays even more and only had the financial freedom to criticize Google because of it.
I’m just saying, we shouldn’t assume that they didn’t know Google was evil the whole time. They must be intelligent or they wouldn’t have got the job.

Critics may chastise me for pulling all my pro-Wyden links from a single source (TechDirt). You can find the same info on his policies pretty much anywhere. I just like TechDirt’s tone in calling things what they are. Any other serious (as in, not right-wing propaganda) reporters will agree on the facts of what he’s done, but they are often coy / timid about calling out those acting in bad faith.

My father almost died of polio as a child. His autopsy / cause of death was recently upgraded to say something about a side effect of polio that occurred later in life. I’d never heard of it until about a week ago when my brother told me. We’ll see similar for covid decades from now.

It’s a big reason that the internet exploded in popularity. We may need to revisit and increase regulation since seeing what social media became, but he’s had a pretty great track record.
