Movies with political or religious messaging have main characters who are pure in certain ideals; which is why they are boring to many.
This applies to any films with that since the 1920s

6·1 month agoI would make an image with three eyes to lure people in. Email and text scams deliberately put obvious mistakes in the text, to weed out anyone but the desperate and uncritical.
I wouldn’t get many responses that were not making fun of it; but anyone seriously interested…
Any top down political movement in the United States must, by definition, fail in its primary goals and will be hijacked by the wealthy.
Any internet coordinating is by definition top down.

I am old enough to remember it going out of style.
I just shook my head when I saw this post, scrolled down to find a comment which reflected the truth, and farted
I agree with that. I’ve been in one and it was not wasted energy because people were networking and exchanging information about local government crimes.
My problem is I cannot imagine these evolving. It’s a dead end.
Perhaps this is only my imagination not being big enough when I think of what I have seen and heard.

3·2 months agoI would like to agree that most of the original contributions on Reddit today come from people who use old Reddit.
I know this because while I have not had an account there for a while; when I was there, I networked with others to know trends of how they connected
I don’t think this preference has changed , and probably even more use old now

21·2 months agoTrump was very careful to make baseless accusations without proof and make things as ridiculous as possible.
His actions severely hurt the efforts in some states to remove election machines and replace them with hand counted ballots such as Virginia did.
Notice he did nothing constructive in his sabotage; he could have easily promoted more transparent vote counts. Instead he attacked mail in ballots, which are very reliably counted.
I was very much invested in promoting hand counted ballots during that time, so I saw the effects. It was very sad.
I’m not sure if you are aware, but most of the discrepancies were absolutely harming democratic races in senate, house and presidential general elections; and in the gop primaries.
Which is why I said, if progressives were able to see this as an issue, the gop would have never won control of the presidency or congress the last 10 years or more.
But it’s not much a discussion in politics
Back in the 1980’s I helped republicans with local elections. Then in the aughts I was very active in the Democratic Party. By 2018 I was firmly a progressive. I did not change my political beliefs from 1980s until 2025, when after that , I did actually slide left and become a communist.
It took me a while to see clarity

55·2 months agoIf you go ahead and list all the safeguards and double checks of any computer voting of the state of your choice. I think if you try to do this in good faith you will quickly realize that there are many unknowns. Or you will realize you have to simply accept you are out of your depth of knowledge. This applies to red and blue states. In the end, you have to take it on faith things are proper.
The fact that one can count votes and in a way all can be satisfied about, like in the Uk or France, simply is ignored. Indeed, once someone has faith in the process, these details are not important.
And this is not just a few people in the thread here, who have strong faith in the computer voting, it’s a political wall that stops all progress.
completely contradicts the exit polling
National use of exit polling, by media companies, to predict federal races, stopped a few years ago because it was too inaccurate. However many do not know that.
Before that, there was a lot of talk about American exceptionalism and shy republican voters who were too embarrassed to admit they voted for the gop. A phenomenon that is not seen in other countries who also have similar parties.
This discussion went out of fashion when exit poll predictions stopped. Most people don’t even know what they are now.
