  • It’s important to note that dementia symptoms possibly start as early as age 30. Just very mild.

And some of the hallmark early symptoms is a lack of motivation and difficulty with multi step procedures.

It’s likely people struggling to be motivated to cook or find it difficult to prepare a meal turn to frozen dinners because they are much easier to cook.

Sleeping disruptions also associated with dementia. It’s normal to sleep a little less at night as we get older but sleeping only 5 or 6 hours a night isn’t really normal. As you can imagine, reduced sleep creates more day-time fatigue. Further reducing motivation and attention to prepare meals.

Whenever I see these kinds of studies linking some behavior or activity with dementia, it’s always important to ask which came first. Is there a interaction effect or a one way effect.

    Similar research:

Claims like dental plaques and tartar being associated with dementia.

    Is it :

Someone’s poor dental hygiene causes dementia or dementia causes poor dental hygiene ?

I acknowledge that processed food isn’t very healthy. Probably increases risk for a lot of gastro problems and nutrition deficiency.

But in this case, probably the dementia was independent.

Pretty strong evidence that Alzheimer’s starts very early in life. Only shows cognitive symptoms much later.

  • I think they were criticizing the government and how we consistently have two shitty options.

Doesn’t stan decide at the end of the episode it’s still best to choose the lesser shit option ? But there is some critique about how the people aren’t really represented anymore by politicians. Maybe they never were.

I do believe the creators have changed their position on a number of topics over the years. Like global warming.

They often criticize the left but they criticize the right even more.

I mean cartman is the character that represents the right conservative the most and the show makes it a point that cartman embodies all the worst traits of humans.

  • Thanks for the tip. I do usually use the app.

Yeah I use Instagram mostly to follow artists. I don’t follow Instagram personalities selling stuff. Even the political stuff I follow is from artist and organizations. Not “models”.

I’m also not on Instagram every day.

So I’m not really at risk for having body or self esteem issues. Honestly never have problems with those because I’m arrogant and don’t think body/looks is very important compared to things like empathy and common decency.

So I’m a hostile defensive “victim”. Not sure how else to describe it.

But if I think someone is trying to manipulate me or make me a victim I kinda get really mad really fast.

Not just me but I feel the same if I see someone trying to do it to someone else.

Like one time this guy tried to mug me (sort of) and I cussed him out cause I was so angry he thought I was an easy target. The audacity. Like a full on white trash cussing out. I didn’t even know I could come up with creative shit like that on the fly but I guess the magic was in me all along.

He didn’t have a weapon. Was just a huge dude trying to say if I didn’t give him money he was going to hurt me. A 5ft 2 woman.

How dare he!? Who tf did he think he was?

Who tf did he think I was?

Cause I’m bout to tell him.

He did in fact, walk away after saying something about me needing a leash or something.

Like, I’m pretty pleasant and friendly most of the time but I have some kind of defensive trigger when it comes to predatory people or predatory advertising (most of it is).

Yeah it’s kind of a running joke but true. I suspect it’s because of sunscreen and a lot of us never smoked. Idk. Our generation just seems to look younger.

People can’t believe I’m in my 40s now. I also have a baby-face so that just adds to it. And I’ve always been good about wearing face sunscreen because im pasty and burn easy.

    Never smoked.

    Also no kids.

I see the generations after us looking older than us. I don’t know what changed.

Dude my gorgeous friend 38 getting filler. Now looks like she’s ate some shellfish she’s allergic to.

Keeps getting it every 6 months or so.

    Just awful.

I can’t tell her cause that will make her feel even worse.

God I hope she stops. I’m angry at the advertisement and grifters that convinced her she needed it.

We are both millennials. Aka ageless women. None of us even look our age anyway. And she’s thinking she needs to fix her perfect face.

Idk. I just reject all that nonsense. I’m ready to experience this whole life. I want to be an older woman when I’m older. I don’t want to be one way forever. Boring.

But culture tells women they are worthless when they are less fuckable. I hate it.

There is no emotional difference between the sexes.

except that men in many cultures only express anger and violence because they are told that being sad or talking to someone about feeling overwhelmed means they are weak.

There is a ton of experimental research on emotional reactions from men and women.

    Here is what we know.
Men suppress facial expression. But experience the same heightened emotions from viewing unpleasant images or videos.

People who suppress facial expression the most have larger body reactions.

For example. A few ways emotion is measured is increased heat rate. Pupil dilation. Sweating.

Men are more likely to supress facial changes but show increased body stress. Faster heart rate. More sweating. Pupil dilation.

And those changes last longer even after the stimulus is removed (unpleasant video).

Women who suppress show similar patterns.

    What we know is this.

Men and women both respond emotionally equally. But men’s intentional suppression of face expressions actually makes them more reactive. And this reactiveness lasts longer.

This is not a biological difference but a social one.

Also fyi Every human cognitive decision is governed by "emotion’. Emotion is how we know to approach or avoid something. Including thoughts.

It feels right. Good. Pleasant. Or wrong. Incorrect. Bad.

No one is exempt from emotions as these are the root cause of motivated behaviors.

When you eat a sandwich. Emotion drove you to it. It felt good and reliving to eat when you were hungry.

It feels good to take a piss.

So it’s absolutely silly when someone says someone else is more emotional.

Nope. What you mean is women express empathy more.

Does it mean men are less empathetic? No. Women just express it more.

Men are told empathy is a sign of weakness. This is toxic masculinity. And it’s bad for men and women.

Also. Those body effects I mentioned. Those are stress responses.

Having longer and more extreme stress responses leads to cardiovascular damage.

Hm. Is that why men die earlier than women from heart disease?

There is evidence that’s a factor. Scientific research evidence.

Suppressing the facial or verbal expression of something is not suppressing it. It’s just changing the way it’s expressed.

Men have high rates of drug and alcohol addiction. Men have higher rates of violence. Highest rates of suicide.

These are all significantly higher than women’s rates.

It’s almost like our gender norms hurt men a lot.
