I was told it was best to draw the alphabet on their back and that was much more satisfying. Was that not correct advice?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Life if you were brave enough to ask a stranger out to see where it leads to…
7·1 month agoAsk the couples you know how they met. It’s almost always their educational institution or place of work or through a close family member or friend. I have literally never heard anyone’s story say that it was a stranger. I’ve been out of the dating game for well over a decade, but I get the impression now that unsolicited approaches (with romantic intent) are less welcome than ever and many would consider it to be unexpected harassment.

Technology@lemmy.world•Visa plugs its payment network into ChatGPT, letting AI agents shop and pay for usersEnglish
62·1 month agoI spend a lot of time looking out for undervalued products on eBay and sniping auctions. It is quite laborious. I imagine it would be most useful in this sort of shopping. Or buying tickets the second they become available, or tracking sites for cheapest air fare or hotels and completing the transaction on those sorts of things.
I don’t advocate using it. I wouldn’t want to. But I imagine people will use it a lot for things like this.

Technology@lemmy.world•Doctors and NHS could be sued for mistakes made by AI tools, report warnsEnglish
244·1 month agoNot really. Workers are left taking the blame for forced implementation from the executive level. They save the costs and work staff harder… But when it fucks up then the workers can take the blame. Responsibility for this needs to sit higher up with those who forced faulty tools on everyone. AI is being forced into the NHS against all protests and objections.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•POV: you are trying to pee but the pee goes back insideEnglish
11·1 month agoIs this…is this a thing? You guys have pee going back inside? WTF
Does this guy think he’s being cute? As if he’s up for the adventure of spinning the roulette wheel and go where fate takes them? He obviously thinks his cognitive offloading is going to be well received somehow.
Arch BTW… 😎

4·1 month agoNo one cares. The purpose of age verification has nothing to do with protecting children.

Better learn fast or you’ll never find a mate. 80% of my communication with my wife is sending her an endless barrage of memes…and then having to explain why juvenile internet culture is funny.
Lovenstein is always gold. If you haven’t seen his stuff before then I would recommend going through the backlog.

Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•Addressing poverty would impact profits.
4·1 month agoIt’s the lie and delusion of meritocracy. As if people who are rich deserve to be there by merit and equally the people who are poor also deserve to be there because they are inferior. Thus, to help the poor is to give free handouts to the “undeserving lazy good-for-nothings”.

memes@lemmy.world•This is a primary reason why you don't sell your multimillion platform a Right Wing attention whore tech billionaire from South Africa, chaos and calamity ensue.
6·1 month agoIf I owned Twitter, I would sell it to a right wing but job, no hesitation. A shit platform will become a bit more shit and I get millions and get out of having to manage the shit show…there’s literally no downside.
They’re not slutty oranges. They’re slutsumas
Boost works great for filtering stuff out. If you’re not making heavy use of filters then you’re really not getting the best use out of social media. Why expose yourself to the unfiltered trash torrent from The Public?

9·1 month agoCorporate virtue signalling is very much a flavour of the day kind of thing.
People who think organisations are genuine or caring or give a shit about them at all are deluded. The fanboys are the worst.
Theres more music out there than ever and it is so hard to find.
Hip hop, rap and RnB are very popular and very much in the mainstream, but I’m not a fan. So popular music certainly isn’t to my taste.
Rock is well past its peak popularity. There’s load of good rock and metal, but it takes work to find it now.
People’s tastes might not reflect what’s currently popular, which makes it falsely look like “all music is shit now”.
It’s part of video game history. In the early days of a genre developing, the conventions weren’t established.
Like in the early days of RTS, you had no idea WTF was going to happen with a right click or left click. Can units be queued? Do buildings construct or have a timer and then you place then to deploy instantly? Some game’s limitations are seen as part of their charm (e.g. Starcraft 1 and it’s limitations are considered part of their game mechanic now and valued as they are).
Some games are just painful though. Golden Eye for the the Nintendo64 binds look up/down with strafe left/right…which is insane now and needs to be remapped to make the game playable.
Retro games cab come with quite a bit of suffering though, in setting up emulators and compatability fixes and BIOS files to get things working properly. Although modern tools and guides simplify this, many consider these to be part of their enjoyment.
I welcome all my comrades to the patient gamer community. For those who require, we also have a subset of comrades in the retro emulation community. This is a wonderful place to be by choice. This is not a place of suffering.

It is the underwear for the PC. The PC’s nethers will be left uncovered. Although that might be intentional in this case since some people like the breeze in their nethers.
