I’ll always recognize the hiphopopotomus. His lyrics are bottomless.

Are you showing the shadow of the mountain THROUGH the balloon on the left? That is incredible!
The final conclusion of the books is far more satisfying than the show ending. Other than that, I completely agree.
Is it a fractal?
I work at a large well established company. I get so many legitimate emails from outside our domain that I am required to click on. Performance reviews, company surveys, corporate training…
Then they wonder why people click fishing links. Bugs the crap out of me. I’m not going to remember the exact domain of the survey company we use, what are you crazy?
Middle class is such a stupid term. It doesn’t mean anything, almost everyone in society considers themselves middle class. It is only useful because of that self identification, so a politician can say “I’m helping the middle class” and 95% of society thinks the politician cares about them.

2·2 months agoThis is great advice, but doesn’t work for everyone. I’ve found the snowflake method gives me more motivation.
It works by identifying the core element of the story and expanding with ever more detail. I prefer this method because if you get an idea in your head you can start writing about the most exciting things first. Flush out cool ideas first and it encourages iterative working so even if your first couple passes are garbage (as they will be) you get to refine them as you mull things over in your head.

There’s an awesome British rap song called Don’t Mug Yourself.

3·3 months agoIt’s even more bleak than that. Politically, the bargaining power of the masses is from the labor they contribute. As soon as the need of human labor is gone, there is absolutely no reason for those with power to heed the will of the populus. You can say open revolt, but if we’re talking a situation where any significant portion of the military is automated, uprisings are no longer a concern.
Are those figures revenue or profit?

8·3 months agoI loved mushrooms and acid, salvia was terrible. It’s super short and super intense. You may think “well it’s just 5 minutes” but it will not feel like 5 min. If you’re looking to expand your mind, mushrooms and acid are great. If you want to slice your brain in half and put the two halves in two separate dimensions with no personal introspection to speak of, try salvia.

5·3 months agoThis is not true. Northern cities are still extremely segregated. We say it’s because of economics now, but it’s effectively segregation. The underlying causes of the economic disperity largely remain in place also.

2·3 months agoIt’s also written by people in an agrarian culture so different than our culture today. The fact that it is still relevant at all is amazing. Like this is around the time germ theory was first proposed. Imagine if we still relied on a single document as the guiding principle for medicine established before germ theory was widely accepted.
There are faults with the founding fathers and their documents, but it amazes me how well the constitution has endured, not as an important document, but as a relevant document addressing issues we have today.

Now, bring this concept into a potential conflict between the US and China. China has ~200x the ship building capacity as the US.
In WWII it’s generally agreed that the NAZIs had better, more sophisticated weapons. The US and Soviets just built more which ended up being a winning strategy.
In both the Ukrainian and Iran theatres, mass produced cheaper drones have proven an effective strategy against sophisticated anti-air defenses.
My point is that in real conflicts it seems manufacturing quantity is more important than technological superiority. Today, the US boasts of its weapons superiority, but China’s manufacturing capacity far exceeds the US. If it really came to (non nuke flinging) war between the two, it seems China has the advantage.
