Ouch, I worked at places like this around the '09 crunch. Fresh out of college and I was absolutely anchorless in my career, unable to find a human manager who knew my name and would recognize me day over day. This sort of shit is going in the pile of counters to “(millennials/Z/Alpha) just don’t work as hard or show loyalty to their jobs anymore”.

Then they are making the business decision to accept more business thry Expedia, etc, at the cost of being misrepresented and having to deal with the fallout. Their choice.

They contract with Expedia, etc, knowing how those middle-men are representing them.

Hotels contract with Expedia. They can choose not to.

Hotels are paying the price… for using AI tools they know are making inaccurate commitments to customers.

I’m now expecting some convoluted plan from Trump where he tarrifs his own country and routes the fees into his family’s bank accounts. Politicians and justifies will stand around with their fingers up their noses saying there’s nothing to be done, it’s only tradition that has kept presidents from doing this sort of thing previously. I’m tired. I read “Costco gay bars” at first and thought $1.50 hot dogs at a gay bar would be a helluva good business idea.

Now I’m thinking of some nice man wearing a party shirt with the Kirkland logo all over it.

Maybe it’s just any gay bar that caters to middle age and older. After the days of youthful, wild parties give way to tamer, fiscally responsible nights. Gotta get to bed early enough to wake up for a run to the real Costco before it gets too busy. The kids need a palette of La Croix.

My dad just switched to Starlink. I advised he watch his bill closely because Musk is going to start playing money games any day. He blew me off, confident they would operate like most other cable companies and keep his prices set for 2-3 years even without a specific contract lock. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya’.

Also, double fuck you to Musk. My parents are rural and this is far and away the best service they’re able to get. Instead of paying around what the others charge plus a little more because they are better, my folks are going to get taken to the cleaners.

The Zelensky/Putin meeting won’t happen. Not because Zelensky is asking in bad faith, but because Putin doesn’t want to negotiate anything short of Ukraine’s surrender.

They’re probably doing that to protect the identity of any Google workers providing them with information. If they posted the actual meme, Google could possibly trace it back to an employee and fire them.

Some of the memes they do have in the article, they note they are reconstructions and not the actual memes from Googles internal channels.

I agree it’s long though, they could have just recreated them and skipped the written description.

FIFA taking cues from Trump on PR. Do awful things, lie, don’t acknowledge the criticism, never apologize, keep doubling down. Maybe he could leave office and go join their board?

The US plans to slap the new tariff on dozens of countries for allegedly failing to “address the importation of goods made with forced labour”.

I hope every country tariffs in return, citing how the US uses prison labor for all sorts of things and pays them so low it would take a full day to earn enough to buy a pack of ramen soup.
