Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•What if the AI is a Lovecraftian entity, like in Dead Space?
10·2 months agoYeah, the scariest parts of Deadspace aren’t the jumpscares or the mutations where people turn inside out. It’s all the culty people sacrificing their children to the static noise patterns being amplified into their brains. The spread of the device across humanity for the convenience of free energy and the lame attempt to ban or stop it when it was way too late.

Is dentistry also transhumanism?
So I…shouldn’t have mentioned Lemmy when that girl asked me to add her on Insta?
It’s not even the ads or ai. I don’t get relevant results for anything remotely complex. It ignores like 2/3 of my search terms. I can even quote something verbatim and it won’t even bring up the origin most times
Guess where /pol went

Hmmmmmm
Turning virtually any high powered device on meant it would have to spin up, power up, cycle, etc. Usually with satisfying whirring, humming, clicking. Nowadays everything boot’s up and you might get a chime.
The background noise was pretty high though. Those old circuits and tubes would hum. There was a lot of interference between them, so stereos would click, pop and hum when operating other devices nearby. Things like that.
