Agreed, the Tea Party Republicans squashed the Libertarians very easily, at just the right moment for maximum effect (post 9-11).

They’re really not as incompetent as they seem; this move revealed the true political acumen of the Republican party… and most people have zero idea anything even happened.

Ross Perot was a little too successful for their liking, and they were ready.

I’ve never met anyone aware of this on Lemmy, hey buddy I see you.

Jesus says the way to Heaven is crooked and narrow, and few will find it. Most will take the straight, wide road, and burn in Hell forever. The only way to get into Heaven is to be Christian.

So, sure, He said “love your neighbor”, but it’s the kind of love that allows Hell to exist and eternal punishment for all who deny Christ.

Jesus was not consistent, according to His own disciples, even. He seems schizophrenic to me, certainly not sane.

I’m not a tankie, and I agree with “bOtH sIdEs SaMe” in regards to being pro-military, and pro-corporate, and anti-labor, for example.

Sure, they have some differences, too. But really not that many.

The major parties have another “sAmE”… they are both less than 30% of the voters now. Independents are now 40% of the voters (pick your poll, there are many). So… of course your party machine surrounds you with “both sides” disparagement and talking points.

    Good, it’s to be expected.

  • Our labor party has had decades to work for labor… now union membership is down to 10% (from 1970s 40%+, most are government or cops), pay is so low that we have been surpassed by Eastern Europe (not a joke, Poland gets maternity leave, vacation, healthcare, and more), and billionaires pay less taxes than ever.

So… will we catch up with Poland in another 70 years? A century?

How embarrassing. Europe has right wing parties, too, yet somehow, their labor parties can accomplish so much more than ours… and do a great deal more with far less money. Our labor party is a disgusting, sad, rotten joke.

I voted D in last election, and probably will in the next national election, go right ahead. But just watch; I’ve seen this slow, undeniable decline for many decades. The grist for the grinding is our workforce.

I was a kid when it was out, and it’s the first time I found a film unctuous, and I started noting product placement and so on. It ruined my childhood; this was before internet and it was advertised everywhere 24-7, signs, products, advertisements, on the news and night time shows and morning shows.
