That’s because antibiotics carpet bomb everything. If they didn’t they’d be pretty pointless. Hell, part of the reason antibiotics are losing efficiency is because either due to poor use or over use - there are survivors after they are deployed.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•How can I convince fellow lazy students that they shouldn't need chatbots to help them learn?
12·1 month agoYou’re looking at it wrong. They’re going to use AI. Instead show them how often it’s wrong. Find examples of it giving bad or incorrect responses. Get them involved. Ask them to try to trick it into lying or giving bad answers. Then kick it up a notch. Poison the data well. A few months back a reporter was able to convince AI that he was a hotdog eating champion by putting the right posts in the right places. Have them do a project where they invent a fake topic, seed it across the internet and watch how quickly AI gobbles it up. You’ll teach them how AI actually works by data harvesting and not to blindly trust it. How to check sources and verify content.
I can’t even name the bands or titles of songs I regularly listen to. Some of us just listen to music to enjoy it, not to score fact points with music nerds.
You should check out kelp next. It’s not a plant either.

5·1 month agoSure there is. It’s a pyramid scheme. It’ll work until it doesn’t. The people involved are just really good at moving assets around to give the illusion that line keep going up. To keep it growing they move assets from other safer markets (pensions to 401ks for example) and have lobbied to not be taxed or regulated so more and more capital gets dumped in. But stocks aren’t tied to anything more tangible then trust of the people holding the stocks. So long as the stock holders believe stocks are valuable they are. But like any good pyramid scheme eventually they will run out of suckers to bleed for cash and then BAM pyramid fall down.

News@lemmy.world•Nearly 60 Idahoans sick after drinking raw milk in past two weeks, officials say
4·1 month agoBack to Basics. I find copies every now a then at used book stores and online - some cheap, others not so much. It gets reprinted from time to time so there are copies around with different covers. My copy is from the 80s and I think it’s also a reprint. There are also other books with the same title that cover wilderness and survival skills.
Edit: Found one
These are awesome! Thanks for letting me know about them.

News@lemmy.world•Nearly 60 Idahoans sick after drinking raw milk in past two weeks, officials say
17·1 month agoSo I have this book from the dark ages that tells you how to do a bunch of old timey farm things. You’ll never guess what it says to do with raw milk: BOIL IT.
Wasn’t there also a popular city sim that nerfed the size of parking lots because they realized if they made it accurate it would be really, really ugly?
As a gamer I always wanted one of these on the W.
It’s like knowing a cow is the room next door. You are aware of the cow but you can’t see it. If someone says the cow is brown, you are now aware the cow in the room next door is a brown cow but you can’t see it because it’s in another room. Except the other room is your mind.
I don’t need to see a cow to imagine it in the next room. Same concept.
It’s easy to figure out if you have aphantasia. Think of a cow. Do you see a cow?
It’s not a condition or a disability, it’s just a different way that some brains work. Don’t fall into the trap of - it’s outside the majority so it must be a deficiency. Most people with aphantasia don’t even know they have it.
Also, strangely I can rotate a cow in my mind, but there is no visual feedback. I “feel” the cow rotating. I choose where in the physical space to project the imagined cow and there is the imagined “physical” sensation of the cow spinning as if it’s an extension of my mind. I can imagine sound as well. But I don’t see anything.

12·2 months agoI just spent $160 to go to a standing room only concert at a SMALL venue. And a lot of that price was the fucked up administrative fees. These assholes really do not understand/care how much the one and only ticket company around is gouging us.
Some of us are just bad spellers, my friend.
I used to be worse. You werent their back in my livejornal days. It was reely bed back than.
That’s not free time. That’s decompression time. Free time is time when you are well rested, all your needs are met, obligations fullfilled, AND you have unencumbered time to persue a passion or intellectual persuit. The rich have free time, the rest of us just take breathers from our responsibilities from time to time.
Or, or, hear me out. Deprioritize cars. Build public transportation/car free spaces/walkable cities, reduce/eliminate parking lots. Require smaller more fuel efficient vehicles. Build solar panels on rooftops/windowpanes. Plant and protect trees and other native plants.
