  • I used a Photobucket account a long time ago, when it was free and I was a naïve teenager. They were one of the first websites that I remembered got enshittified fast. When they started getting grabby for money in the late 2000s I moved on to another image hosting service and forgot about it for about 16 years.

Couple years ago I decided I wanted whatever I had uploaded in that account because I’m sure some of those pictures I had on it were going to be hard to find on my system or drives. Those motherfuckers wanted $8 for me to be able to access my account. Reluctantly chucked the 8 bucks at them and took my pictures off. Come to find out, I’d found some of the originals and realized Photofucket reduced the size and quality of the images uploaded on to their platform. Absolute abysmal failure of a website.

  • They don’t even stop and think about how utterly fucking ridiculous these accusations are. I bet you dollars to donuts that near the DC monuments there are cameras everywhere. Where’s the footage of these evil Dems dumping buckets of algae in the pool? Any (reliable) eyewitness reports? Any scientists taking samples and maybe seeing if the algae was recently disturbed/transplanted?

I mean, I get it, their feelings mean more to them than facts and evidence, but c’mon, man. This is a 4th grade level critical thinking exercise.

  • A few of my high school alums set up a zoom meeting where we could discuss plans for our 20 year reunion next year. I jumped on doing the graphic design, because I’ve been doing that and stuff adjacent to it since like 2002. While we were discussing roles they said “well we don’t want to overburden you with all the graphic design stuff so others can do some designing the flyers and banners too” and a guy in the group chimes in like “yeah I can do that, I’m probably just going to run it through ChatGPT though, not gonna lie” and inside I’m just screaming.

I gently said that I am okay with doing the graphic design work, I’d just like to avoid the use of AI and there was an awkward silence.

I mean, I jumped on the graphic design role also for the express purpose of preventing the use of AI in the planning of the visual media surrounding this event. All the AI-generated company logos on vans and billboards, promo art on mailers that I see in my day to day life SUCK. There’s no soul behind it. I wanted to prevent that here.

I figured that since I’ve done this stuff for decades and that I’m doing all this for free, they’d be fine with it but like, why do people have to insert AI into everything?? flails
