I have even reported a slightly higher tax rate to my employer, this means that I slightly overpay my taxes through the year, and when it is time to report your taxes, you will always get a tax return.

I don’t, it is way less stressful
Oh yeah, your employer pays your tax here in Sweden, I am just talking about the yearly income report you have to submit.
You only have to make any changes if you have earned money not automatically reported to the government.
I sold some stock a few years back, and had to report it and pay tax on it.
I ran the simple calculation, reported everything, and transfered the money to my tax account, total time was 45 min.
That seems to mostly be a thing in the US, in developed countries we have pre filled out tax forms that you sign online, if you haven’t got anything special to report, it takes 5 min to just double check the numbers and sign it.

World News@lemmy.world•Palestine Action activists sentenced as terroristsEnglish
44·1 month agoTerror is in interesting word, it used to mean a government that oppressed their citizens, then it changed to mean general attacks on civillians by a non government entity.
And now, it means protesting specific government policies.
The first meanings are understandable, they involve harming civillians.
The new definition is just idiotic.

421·1 month agoThank you, this is what I have been trying to tell people, I am an IT guy at a financial services company, the entire company is currently AI pilled, and I hate it.
Replacing knowledge and skills with a statistics based chatbot is insane.
The only times I use AI is like a dynamic manual, and that is only if I couldn’t find the information through a normal googling.
I have tried to use AI to write code for me, and it terrified me, it was so easy, but I lost control and understanding of the code, and I hate that.
I want to be able to glance at the code of a script I have developed and be able to remember how it works, and I don’t get that with AI.
A skilled employee with knowledge of the code/system is far, far more valuable than a statistics based chatbot.

All his supporters could start using the argument that he was a true man, who never backed down from a fight, “he even went to war” would be a common claim.

1284·1 month agoCowards like Andrew Tate won’t go anywhere near the actual front, they are all about a fake image of being strong while being being pathetic cowardly losers.
This is a really fun post however, but made me think…
Killing Tate in combat can be a bad idea, it could easily make him a martyr, a powerful symbol for other cowards to rally behind.
However, if the last pictures of Tate were somehow really embarrassing to him and his followers…
On the toilet perhaps, in the middle of the night, being half awake, hair and beard a mess, wearing a way too old t-shirt with large holes and stains.
That might do it…

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•'Some places carry the costs and other places capture the benefits': UN warns that AI is stripping natural resources in exchange for making the rich richerEnglish
7·1 month agoThis is nothing new with AI, it is just that now AI is stripping not only natural resources but also facts, news, privacy and independent thought.
Which to be fair, is also nothing new with AI, but the scale is new. And it is fucking insane.

711·1 month agoIt is interesting to see old tech having clever solutions for stuff like this, these days the answer is 98% of the time is to slap a CPU on it.
It’s boring!
Yeah, this is what I tried to tell people in the last election who refused to vote at all.
But some people decided that it was completely impossible to vote for Kamala, even if they hated Trump, and would either refuse to vote at all or vote for a third party, both of which benefitted Trump.
If you are rich enough, you don’t buy a house, you buy a plot of land, you then contract an architect to help you plan the house to your liking, after that you get a contractor who helps you build the house.
Only poor people buy houses second hand!
…unless they are REALLY fancy, then only rich people buy the houses.
Or you can just keep your card in your wallet, like you have done for decades

492·1 month agoI don’t know, I think the shock will be pretty bad for us both…
I mean, the south of Sweden is at the same latitute as Newfoundland, Stockholm is at the same latitude as the southern tip of Greenland.
Spain is at the same latitude as New York, Washington and Virginia.
Let’s not compete about who will suffer the most.

To be fair, he was born in Taiwan, just 20 or so years after the ROC retreated from mainland China.
He then lived in the city of Tainan and later in Thailand.
Then, also consider what he may have ment by “when car came along”, I would read it less litteral and more like “when mass car ownership came along”.
One or two cars in the area per day won’t prevent anyone from playing in the streets, but when that increases to hundreds per day, that changes things.
